From time immemorial, we Indians have taken pride on the world stage about our ‘TRADITIONAL FAMILY VALUES’. We rejoice and live the melodrama of ‘Meri MAA’ every day, whether it’s our goodbyes’ while leaving for office or that regular phone call to update her every day, every detail, about that ever so tiny hole in our sock. Our ‘Papa’ saga follows suit. The ritual of self – felicitation that our Papa's indulge in at every family gathering, pompously sharing their baccha’s paycheque is a very desi phenomenon.
In today's time when mobility is high and people are constantly moving from one city to another, a typical urban Indian family consists of:-
Adult members consist mainly of a husband and wife duo. Frequently visited by close and extended family members.
Minor (demanding) members consist mainly of miniature versions of the adults.
CHALLENGES faced by these apparently smiling, but constantly juggling adults:-
Managing roles of being the ‘bread earner’ and the more significant, ‘brand earner’
Providing for emotional wellbeing and recreational needs of all members
Contributing toward joyous, empowering and virtuous (all at once without compromises, Phew!) upbringing of the children
Shouldering the responsibility for outstanding performances in the roles of being, daughter, son, daughter in law, brother in law, etc
Synthesizing a happiness quotient with an above-average score for the Facebook family picture
Along with the above, also dealing with the current social realities of rising virtual identities, the downsizing of actual relationships, overworked individuals and changing family dynamics. The psychologist in us cannot stop pondering how all this is impacting ‘Traditional Family Values’; ‘Indian Marriages’ and ‘Indigenous Parenting Styles’?And so we decided to jump on this swelling bandwagon and get ourselves some work by organising a 2 days Couple's Retreat for Parents.
In this 2 day RETREAT we guarantee that -
You will have plenty of time to enjoy and romance your spouse.
Your child will have lots to learn and engage in various challenging, adventurous and simple fun activities.
You will have an awesome time enjoying as a family!
Apart from this, our experts (we just can’t help ourselves!) will conduct workshops wherein:
Get plenty of time to rediscover each other.
You will learn the scientific understanding of feeling love, being in love, nurturing love, expressing love and receiving love.
You may also indulge in a bit of self-awareness and self-growth practices based on science and ancient yogic wisdom.
And finally, we will exercise our brains to understand your child’s true personality, needs, and aspirations. We will share our perspective with you and you can feel free to challenge our educated assumptions. Our vision here is to arrive at the best and unique parenting practices that every child deserves.
We PROMISED a lot, but how are we going to DELIVER
For Children:- Our child (read playful) psychologists will engage your children in some of the activities listed below:-
Adventure sports- nature trails and short treks, zip line, Burma bridge crossing, rope wall, etc.
Creative corners – painting, art and craft, rangoli and sand art.
Enriching energizers – farming and animal petting.
Chilling zone – indoor non-competitive games and storytelling.
Their main task is to observe your child in various situations and analyze their behavior. At all times they will be assisted and supported to bring out their best.
For Couples:-
Our experienced (read greying) psychologist will hold informative and knowledge sharing workshops for adults.
Whilst all these group activities are flowing, we’ve also allocated time slots and places for you to indulge in some “Me’ time and some ‘Us’ time with your spouse.
Who Should Attend?
We’ve planned the retreat for urban families. Check if the following criteria match you (We encourage cheating and can bend the rules to accommodate everyone who is interested.)
Families with at least one child in the age group 5-12 years.
Couples who feel like their marriage has lost its spice and need to revive the fire will find lots of useful gyan and tips in our sessions on Intimacy and Romance.
We have things to offer couples who feel the need to know each other deeply and establish stronger bonds. Those who want to reach out to each other and grow as individuals will learn the ‘Art of Partnership’.
Couples who want to spend time together without being hassled by the daily chores and usual demands of the children will have opportunities to unwind and connect during our reserved slots dedicated to ‘Me’ and ‘Us’ time.
Parents who are struggling with parenting challenges and are looking for answers will be helped by our session on ‘Growing up Parenting’
And for those parents wanting to discover their child and offer their best as parents, we have something for them too.
